Bladet stammer fra et af de berømte ”Fraser-album” med miniaturer, udført på bestilling af de to skotske brødre William og James Fraser.
Motivet gengiver nogle af de indiske rekrutter, der lod sig hverve til ”The Second Regiment of Skinner’s Horse”, oprettet og ledet af brødrenes gode ven James Skinner. Soldaterne talte indere fra vidt forskellige egne, og deres navn, oprindelse og religiøse overbevisning er angivet på et tilhørende dækblad på farsi og engelsk.
Miniaturen er imidlertid ikke alene en nøgtern etnografisk registrering. Figurerne er omhyggeligt sammenkomponerede, og en raffineret koloristisk balance opnås med de hvide dragter og elegante røde hovedbeklædninger, der udgør dagligdagsuniformen for ”Skinner’s Horse”.
