Med sine farverige og overdådigt komplicerede geometriske og kalligrafiske mønstre kan denne andalusiske silke i sin grundform reduceres til et stribet tekstil. Hovedmønstret er med sin fletværksornamentik, stjerneformer, udsnit af cirkelslag m.m. så komplekst, at det unddrager sig en klar verbal beskrivelse.
Det, der ligner en kunstfærdigt flettet kufi-indskrift, kan ikke læses og er at betragte som ren ornamentik af kalligrafisk karakter eller pseudo-kalligrafi. Det samme fænomen ses på mange samtidige tæppeborter, men forekommer også inden for andre materialegrupper.
Der er bevaret meget store spanske tekstiler med en beslægtet ornamentik. Disse har fungeret som forhæng.
