Ottekantet beholder (blækhus) af graveret og forgyldt kobber

Den ottekantede beholder, der i dag mangler sit låg, har formodentlig tjent som blækhus. Tre mere komplette eksemplarer er publiceret, et cylindrisk og to ottekantede – alle med bevarede låg.1 De fire pånittede beslag med ringe har gjort det muligt at ophænge blækhuset f.eks. fra ejermandens bælte, når det ikke stod på et fast underlag. Låget har muligvis haft tilsvarende ringe. En sådan konstruktion kendes også fra tidligere blækhuse fra andre dele af den islamiske verden (se f.eks. 32/1970).
Sidernes dekoration er inddelt i tre vandrette bånd. Øverst indskrifter som: ”Æren er Guds” eller ”Kongemagten er Guds”. Herunder otte svejfede nicher med palmetter i sviklerne og med beslægtede indskrifter i hver anden niche. Nederst et bånd med palmetranker. De dekorative elementer fremstår blanke mod en skraveret baggrund.
Indskrifterne minder i stil om dem, der kendes fra andet spansk kunsthåndværk (se f.eks. 2/1989), og det har været foreslået, at kunstneren måske har været inspireret af tekstildesigns, og at æsken kunne være udført i Nordafrika, efter at nasriderne var fordrevet fra Granada i 1492.2 Lodret i en af nicherne er graveret en anden type indskrift, måske en kunstnersignatur, som ikke umiddelbart kan tydes.
