Rørbye & Bindesbøll. The Journey to Constantinople
Until August 23, 2026The David Collection invites visitors to follow the artist Martinus Rørbye and the architect Gottlieb Bindesbøll on their journey to Constantinople (now Istanbul) in 1835. A journey that would inspire and shape their work in their respective fields for years to come.
During their time in the city, they produced numerous sketches of its architecture and the lives of its inhabitants. Both showed a deep interest in the culture and people they encountered along the way.
Sending all my love — Vintage Postcards from the Middle East
Until January 3, 2027Long before Instagram and TikTok, postcards were the social media of their time. From 1900 until World War II, millions of cards travelled from south to north, carrying exotic images of mosques, camels, dancers and snake charmers. These postcards shaped a vision of the Middle East – one that was neither entirely true nor completely false.
