Beyond Words - Calligraphy from the World of Islam

From 24 May you can explore the history of calligraphy and calligraphy as an artform when The David Collection opens the exhibition Beyond Words: Calligraphy from the World of Islam. The title is meant literally because the words and the beautiful letters may assume several different meanings.

We are looking forward to welcoming the works by Vilhelm Hammershøi back in 2025

In the spring of 2025, The David Collection will show a special hanging of selected works by Vilhelm Hammershøi from the museum’s “Danish Early Modern Art” collection. With our 14 paintings and drawings the museum’s collection is among the four largest in the world, and the painting “Open Doors” is considered to be one of the artists main pieces of work.
