European 18th-Century Art
In addition to the early 19th-century Danish interior of the Golden Age Room, the collection encompasses furniture and other decorative art from the 18th century. There are fine groups of Scandinavian faience and Danish silverware and examples of the earliest products of the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Manufactory.
Other important groups comprise early porcelain from the manufactories in Meissen, Vincennes, and Sèvres. In addition, the collection includes English and German furniture, with an especially exquisite selection from David Roentgen’s workshop. Dutch and French paintings from the 17th-18th century and works by a number of leading Danish Golden Age painters grace the walls.
The Collection of European art on Floor 1 is closed due to floor maintenance. Floor 1 is open for the public on Saturday, October 29 and on Sunday, October 30. Floor 1 will close again for further maintenance from November 1 to November 4, 2016.
