November 6, 2026 - May 2, 2027The special exhibition The Art of Desire – An Ottoman Sex Manual and Its Context opens a rare window into a private visual world from the Ottoman Empire. Discover an extraordinary manuscript featuring explicit illustrations in which desire, power, and sexuality take center stage. The exhibition places the work in dialogue with an older tradition from Iran, Central Asia, and India, as well as with contemporary traditions of the period from Japan and Europe.

Until January 3, 2027Long before Instagram and TikTok, postcards were the social media of their time. From 1900 until World War II, millions of cards travelled from south to north, carrying exotic images of mosques, camels, dancers and snake charmers. These postcards shaped a vision of the Middle East – one that was neither entirely true nor completely false.
