C. L. David Foundation and Collection
The C. L. David Foundation and Collection is a private foundation that owns the museum known as the David Collection. The foundation’s primary purpose is to preserve and expand the holdings of the David Collection and to make them accessible to the public.
In addition, it can provide support for research intended to promote Denmark’s contacts with an understanding of the art and culture of the countries of the Near East. Support can be granted to promote decorative art and an interest in the field, and for other non-profit purposes that the foundation’s board finds appropriate.
Among the many projects that the C. L. David Foundation and Collection has supported or initiated in recent years are the Danish Institute in Damascus, founded in 1995, the publication of the Carsten Niebuhr Library, and a longer term collaboration with the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art.
